“Oh yeah!...good evening (crowd cheers) hardy citizens of Buffalo (crowd cheers)…ah…woke up this morning – all that snow…years ago, it was in the 70s, there was an enormous blizzard up here and we were like the first band that came in – what was it? (someone in the crowd: “´77”) ´77?...and we, like, came in after everybody´d been locked up for, like, two weeks or something… completely stir-crazy and…a very memorable night (chuckles) but, anyway, glad to be here tonight (crowd cheers) Patti, Patti sends her love…we have the three teenagers so somebody´s gotta sort of watch the fort, as I was leaving, there was about a hundred kids with these big kegs rushing up the driveway…she´ll take care of that, she´s got that, she´ll have that (?)…and Danny sends his best (crowd cheers) he´s doing quite well and we´re hoping he gets out to play a little bit on this leg of the tour (crowd cheers) we´ll send our love out to Danny and in the meantime we have the fabulous Charlie Giordano from the Sessions Band (crowd cheers) alright, so here´s to the end of, uh, seven years of magic tricks…”

“Woo!...Buffalo! (crowd cheers) alright…this is a song called “Livin´ in the Future”…but it´s about what´s happening now…now, along with all the things that we´re proud of about where we come from and we love about our home, we´ve had to add to the American picture over the past seven years things like rendition and illegal wiretapping and the rolling-back of cherished civil liberties…no Habeas Corpus or right to defend yourself against charges in court, these are things that growing up I remember always hearing happening in other places…and, uh…this is a song about things that we thought could never happen here happening here…but the mighty E Street Band is here tonight to do something about it (crowd cheers) we´re gonna sing about it!...that´ll teach ´em… we´re musicians (chuckles)…but I feel a new wind blowing…(?)
